Performing Arts Venue Under Construction in Crystal
Theatre Elision Company purchased the old Mill End Textiles building on 42nd Avenue in Crystal and recently started construction. When the work wraps up in June, the former space will become a performing arts center. The future facility will get a new name too: Elision Playhouse.
Different theatrical groups will be able to rent out the space. Theatre Elision will produce shows there as well.
Theater officials believe it will be a community resource for Crystal and neighboring cities, providing affordable space for local artists.
“I’m just so excited,” said Christine Wade from Theatre Elision. “To hopefully be a part of creating art and creating a place for people to come. I think that it’s just hopefully a new little spot here where people can come enjoy local artists do their thing.”
Capacity of the playhouse will be 120, with additional room in the cabaret space, which will have tables, chairs and between 60 to 100 seats. The performing arts venue’s first show is in July.
