Update: Pedestrian Struck by Car, Injured Near New Hope Church Dies
Update: A Robbinsdale woman who was struck by a car near a church in New Hope about three weeks ago, has died.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says Eleanor Bjorkquist, 87, died last week from injuries sustained in an accident on November 1.
The Robbinsdale couple was in critical condition after they were hit by a car near a church in New Hope. The incident took place at 6:50 Friday evening near the intersection of 48th Avenue and Boone Avenue. Witnesses say the couple was walking near the House of Hope Lutheran Church when the accident happened.
Friends say the husband and wife are in their 80s, and both have deep ties in the community. They are long-time volunteers with the NEAR food shelf in Crystal.
“We’re all praying for them because they’re going to need them,” said friend Jan Monroe. “The pain they must be going through must be horrible. I just can’t imagine those two in so much pain. It hurts me to think about it.”
Both victims went to North Memorial Health Hospital with multiple broken bones and head injuries. The husband is still recovering.
New Hope Police are still investigating what happened.
