Past Two Weeks “Insane” for Crystal Towing Company
First Mother Nature hit us with ice and snow. To add injury to insult, dozens of people in the northwest suburbs are dealing with towed vehicles.
At North Suburban Towing in Crystal, the parking lot was jam-packed Friday with snow-covered vehicles. Many of them were towed overnight. Some of them were due to accidents. Others are sitting in the lot because of parking restrictions.
Past Two Weeks “Insane”
Dakota Gangloff has been trying to keep up with the last two weeks. Gangler is a dispatcher at North Suburban Towing.
“The past two weeks have been absolutely insane,” he said.
Parking restrictions went into effect Thursday for Golden Valley, Robbinsdale, Brooklyn Center, New Hope and Crystal. Many of the cars end up at North Suburban Towing. At least six cars were picked up overnight in Crystal for violating parking restrictions.
When Gangloff picks up the phone, callers usually have a long list of questions or requests.
“The police wanting us to go pick up a vehicle, or somebody calling to see how much it is to get their vehicle out, what they need to get their vehicle out,” said Gangler of common calls he receives.
North Suburban Towing is also busy responding to accidents.
“Eastbound 610 and 252, he hit a guardrail?” said Gangloff to a police dispatcher. “We’re probably looking at a few hours, but we’ll get someone over there as soon as we can.”
Costs Add Up to Retrieve Vehicle
It’s not cheap to get your vehicle out of the impound lot —about $120 on up. However, the rates depend on the type of vehicle. North Suburban Towing only accepts cash for impounded cars. So, be prepared if you’re picking up an impounded vehicle.
