Park Center Counselor Collecting Prom Dresses for Students
Prom season is coming up quickly. A dress drive is hoping to make that event magical for more students at Park Center High School.
Through “Say Yes to the Prom Dress,” Park Center students can shop for prom, free of charge.
Organizers hope to collect 400 dresses of all sizes for its April 17 event. Typically, more than 100 students leave the event with dresses.
Prom dresses can be expensive and the costs add up for families. Emily Juaire, Park Center’s student assistance counselor, said this makes prom possible for many kids who might not be able to afford it.
“Some of the kids that I send through and get prom dresses, their lives might be stressful, they might have things going on,” Juaire explained. “This is an opportunity for them to dress up, feel awesome for a night and just be a kid. And participate in a really fun high school activity!”
Anyone can help. If you have a clean, long dress or shoes to donate to the event, Park Center will take those donations during school hours. You can also bring your donations to Taj Salon and Spa in Brooklyn Park.
Juaire asks that people bring donations to either location by Monday, April 15, so they are ready for the event on April 17.
