Osseo School District Plans to Hold First-Ever Job Fair on Feb. 12
The Osseo School District has close to 200 job openings. It’s now trying to fill those openings by holding its first-ever job fair. The district says most departments are short-staffed.
“Our teachers and staff are exhausted,” said Kate Emmons, director of student services for Osseo Area Schools.
Emmons says her department’s biggest need is support staff.
“Those are staff members who work with teachers to support the needs of people with disabilities,” said Emmons. “IT’s a hard job, but very rewarding. We have a lot of needs across the system for that.”
Nutrition services is short-staffed in most schools.
“Being short-staffed just puts a lot more pressure and long-term it’s not sustainable to run the kitchen short-staffed,” said Jeff Ansorge, food services director. “It’s a great opportunity for parents who want to have the same schedule as their children, holidays off, summers off, Monday through Friday. The benefits are great and who wouldn’t want to serve smiling kids, right?”
The district says it also has openings in kitchen services or custodial services that might be perfect for a current student. Many of the opportunities don’t require a specialized degree or training.
“We have a solid, great team in place to welcome folks that want to come on board and be part of the community and make sure that we are able to deliver our services and education to the diverse community we serve,” said Susan Hang, recruitment and retention manager.
The job fair is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 12, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Educational Service Center. Learn more here.
