Osseo Prepares for ‘Biggest Celebration’ in City’s History
Volunteers in Osseo are continuing to plan for the city’s 150th Anniversary celebration.
The city of Osseo turns 150 in the year 2025.
Volunteer Kathleen Gette told the Osseo City Council on Monday that the they are planning for the “biggest celebration in Osseo’s history.”
While volunteers haven’t finalized their plans, the event may include a firework or laser light show, a scavenger hunt and concerts.
The celebration may also offer an all-class reunion, baking or eating contests, magic shows and garden tours.
The event will also feature a booklet with the histories of Osseo’s farms, business, school and places of worship.
Planners are considering several time frames for scheduling the event. That is, the event could be hosted as a standalone celebration, or be hosted jointly with other events.
More specifically, the 150th celebration could be combined with the Osseo Lions Roar celebration. Or the event could simultaneously celebrate the United State’s 250th anniversary and be hosted as a July 4th celebration.
Planning for the event continues without former Osseo City Council Member Harold Johnson, who died in late July.
Johnson was a proponent of the celebration. He resigned from his seat after a disagreement with the council about the celebration, but continued to plan the event until his death.
The event planners are still looking for additional volunteers. Updates and volunteer opportunities are available on the event’s Facebook page.
