Osseo Ice Arena Renovations Continue
A nearly two-million dollar renovation of the Osseo Ice Arena should be completed by the end of September. The venue will have new locker rooms and major improvements to heating and ventilation systems.
Makeover long overdue
Part of the Osseo Ice Arena dates back to the 1970s and school officials say a makeover is long overdue.
“We’re really excited about having these improvements,” says Dale Carlstrom with Osseo Area Schools. “This is the first stage in a two-stage process. We will start our second phase next year. We will be replacing the chiller system that actually chills the ice. Once we get that done we will have a facility that will be good out in the future.”
Inside the arena, there is still plenty of work to be done. When completed, the venue will have new locker rooms. Crews will upgrade heating and ventilation systems.
“We’ve been struggling for years trying to keep the mechanical systems working,” says Carlstrom. “We’ve decided that different things like availability of spare parts and actually getting equipment to work properly was hindering our ability to provide the services our community really needs.”
The total price tag for the renovation is $1.9 million, with some of the funding coming from the Osseo-Maple-Grove Hockey Association and Booster Clubs.
