Osseo Approves License for Vape Shop
The Osseo City Council has unanimously approved a tobacco license for a new retail store that will sell vaping and tobacco products, and perhaps in the future, THC consumables.
No public comments in support or opposition were heard during the hearing.
The new retail store, Gr8 Vape, will be open in the First Avenue Commons building in Osseo.
The store’s manager and owner, Josh Haron, has indicated his intention will be to specialize in THC products, if and when the THC sales moratorium currently in place in the city is lifted.
Osseo City Administrator Riley Grams says the city is moving toward establishing a licensing procedure for selling THC edibles and beverages.
If the moratorium is lifted, the retail store would still have to apply for a license to sell THC products.
Although the council members approved the application for the tobacco license unanimously, Council Member Mark Schulz said he would like to see some upgrades to the application process in the future.
“Since we haven’t had a new application for a tobacco license in my knowledge in over ten years, this is an opportunity for us to look at it an potentially in the future revise this to be more comprehensive, if that’s the direction the council wishes to go,” Schulz said.
Council members voiced support for making changes to the application process as the THC moratorium is evaluated.
There will be no smoking at the Gr8 Vape store. It is strictly sales.
