One Man Struck as Shots Fired Inside Brooklyn Park Market
Police in Brooklyn Park are investigating a shooting Thursday that occurred inside a Brooklyn Park strip mall.
According to Brooklyn Park police, officers responded to reports of shots-fired at the Quick African Market at 5700 Brookdale Dr.
Police say two men fired gunshots at each other while inside the store, which is located at the corner of Brookdale Drive and Yates Avenue.
Arriving officers found one man in the store with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
First responders transported him to a hospital for treatment. Police officers arrested the man after doctors released him from the hospital.
Police are continuing to search for a second shooter.
The Quick African Market was open for business by Thursday afternoon.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation unit helped Brooklyn Park police detectives process the scene for evidence.
Brooklyn Park Police Inspector Elliot Faust said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
This isn’t the first shooting incident at the Quick African Market.
This May, 16-year-old Jahcohn Anderson Jr. was fatally shot at the store.
In 2021, 16-year-old Varney Kennedy Jr. was also shot and killed while sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot of the Quick African Market.
