North Memorial Health Opens COVID-19 Testing Site in Brooklyn Center
Brooklyn Center has a new COVID-19 testing site. North Memorial Health opened a walk-up testing facility in the former Target building on Wednesday. It’s in partnership with the city of Brooklyn Center.
“We should be able to do comfortably upwards of 600 tests per day and probably a little bit higher than that,” explained Steve Horstmann, vice president of North Memorial Health Hospital.
The new site replaces North Memorial Health’s drive-up testing location in Robbinsdale. The new walk-up testing site is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s accessible by bus, one of the reasons for the new location.
How to Register to Get Tested for COVID-19
Those who visit the Brooklyn Center testing site will register with a health professional when you arrive. They will ask for health insurance information, but you don’t need insurance to get tested. Once that is complete, they will approve you for the nasal swab test. Officials say this site is more suitable for testing.
“It’s definitely a lot more spacious and allows us the ability to test more people at the same time. At our drive-up site, we were only able to test two cars at a time, but at this site, we could probably test six to eight people at a time given the large space that we have,” said Horstmann.
Officials say test results should be available within seven days.
