North Memorial Health Hospital, Clinics Collect Coats for Osseo Students
Employees at North Memorial Health hospitals and clinics delivered more than 150 gently used coats and other winter gear this week for Osseo students. The Northwest Hennepin Family Service Collaborative will distribute the coats.
“We were sorting in one of our offices and I think we were up to our necks in coats and it was such a wonderful thing to see that overwhelming response,” explained Stephanie Hoff with North Memorial Health. “When you do something like this, you really don’t know what people have the capacity for or what they can have that they can give. So we were just blown away by the generosity we saw.”
Volunteers delivered the coats to the Osseo School District office on Monday. Tide Cleaners washed all the coats before the donation.
Osseo staff will start giving away the coats this week.
“While we’re also talking about coats right now, it is also about mental health because when people have their basic needs met, they have a better chance of being educated in school because they can concentrate on it,” said Rachel Harris, with Northwest Hennepin Family Service Collaborative.
