Newsmakers: May 19 Concert to Raise Awareness on Mental Health
A benefit show next weekend in Minneapolis will bring attention to the services provided by Minnesota’s largest non-profit mental health provider, People Incorporated. The multi-campus organization operates a location in New Hope.
Performing his newest album under the band name Vincent van Beethoven, singer/songwriter Joe Finstrom said the issue of mental health awareness is something he takes very seriously. He was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder in 2014.
“In trying to find a provider then, which was difficult, People Incorporated was the first organization that had someone available,” said Finstrom. “That was my entryway to providers, and kind of got me started on this road I’ve been on.”
Finstrom said he’s volunteered and donated to the group over the years.
The album release party is from 6-9 p.m. Friday, May 19, at Stray Dog on Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis.
