News on Hennepin County Library Reopening in Golden Valley, Osseo
Hennepin County Libraries have been gradually reopening to regular hours. The Golden Valley Library will be open Tuesday through Saturday starting on March 2. The Osseo Library will remain closed, because it’s too small to allow for adequate social distancing.
“We were offering service at over 30 libraries throughout the second half of 2020. Now we’re into 2021. We’re into a space where we can open up the rest of out library system. Six libraries including Golden Valley will open for grab an go service starting early March. Golden Valley will open on March 2nd,” said Josh Yetman, Hennepin County Library System Communications Manager.
Grab and Go Ccoming soon
The service at Golden Valley will be 5 days a week, Tuesday through Saturday. The hours will be from noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and nine to five on Wednesday through Saturday. Grab and go means you can come in and look for books, pick up a hold, or use a computer for one hour. Osseo Library patrons, however, are going to have to wait a bit longer.
“Osseo in particular is a bit different for us. It’s such a small library. We don’t feel we’re able to safely accommodate both staff and patrons. So Osseo is going to continue to be closed to the public. But we will be offering a return service,” said Yetman.
If you normally source materials from the Osseo Library you can request them online and pick them up at any other location choose. We’ll keep you up to date on any changes in library openings in our area throughout the year.
