New Robbinsdale Mural Takes Shape
Robbinsdale muralist Lili Payne painted a new mural in downtown Robbinsdale this week. Several local groups and citizens contributed to the effort.
A vigorous crowdfunding campaign helped make the mural a reality. You can find the new mural on the south wall of Ace Hardware. The store is donating the paint.
Local groups like the Jaycees contributed to the project. Robbinsdale’s Economic Development Authority and Springboard for the Arts also helped to fund the Robbinsdale mural.
According to the city, the project cost above $20,000. Some of the funds went toward treating the wall too.
Artist and Robbinsdale resident Lili Payne came up with the design. The artist also painted the mural on the wall of Theatre Elision in Crystal too.
“I hope they stop and take a look at this really big blue wall and kind of see the elements that make Robbinsdale special, like all of these awesome restaurants we’re having now, the history of professional wrestling, and that crazy magazine that we published,” explained Payne.
The artist started painting on Tuesday and should wrap up this weekend.
