New North Hennepin Art Exhibit Welcomes Students Back To School
With students heading back to classes this week, North Hennepin Community College is opening a new art exhibit that highlights students and established artists.
The “New Voices / New Visions” fine art collection at North Hennepin Community College has paintings, drawings and more from six established artists and seven students.
“In media ranging from painting, drawing and photography, to ceramics, mixed media and printmaking, the artists use line, repetition, shape, contrast, and color to make visually engaging art,” reads a press release from the college.
Established artists with work in the collection include Nana Aforo, Liz Carlson, Marlena Myles, Selma Fernandez Richter, Maria Cristina Tavera and Xavier Tavera.
Meanwhile, the student artists featured are, Kyden Aydt, Abigail Gutierrez, Soren Moss Johnson, Savannah Ok, CJ Smith, May Spooner and Johanna Vicente.
The college says it wanted to expand its collection with a focus on diversity, equity and inclusion of artists represented in the collection.
There’s a reception for the exhibit coming up on Sept. 11.
The exhibition runs through Sept. 27.
