New Mural Marks Opening of Crystal’s Theatre Elision
Theatre Elision in Crystal is putting the finishing touches on its new building ahead of the first production at its new home. A mural will grace the entrance side of the building on the west.
Robbinsdale artist Lili Payne worked on the mural. Payne has painted outdoor art across Minnesota and the country. She wanted to paint a style of art that compliments the theater’s focus.
“I thought art nouveau would fit the personality of the theater company, and sort of has that sense of grace and femininity,” said Payne. “So this was a great job to be able to do something I’ve always wanted to do. And it fit with what they wanted.”
Payne has three assistants helping on the project. If the weather cooperates, the mural should be finished in time for opening night Thursday.
