New Metro Transit Route Connects Osseo to Blaine
For those looking to travel by bus across the northwest metro, a new Metro Transit route can help you do just that.
Route 725 went into effect on Dec. 6, connecting the cities of Osseo, Brooklyn Park, Coon Rapids and Blaine.
Metro Transit Senior Planner Victoria Dan said the route operates trips every hour, seven days a week. Dan said community members were expressing interest in more crosstown service. After a lengthy planning period, this one is available.
“We’re really excited that this service is now out on the streets serving the community, and we’re excited to see what ridership looks like,” Dan said.
Heading east, the route starts in Osseo at the corner of 5th Street and 1st Avenue, behind Osseo City Hall. The route headed west begins at the Northtown Transit Center in Blaine.
Route 725 runs all day in both directions, beginning shortly after 6 a.m. and ending around 10 p.m. It makes several stops along the way, including one on the corner of 85th and Broadway avenues in Brooklyn Park.
“A true east-west connector was not available until this December,” Dan said.
The route also connects riders to other routes– like 705, 723, 725 and 764 at Starlite Transit Center in Brooklyn Center.
Right now, since the route is new, Dan said the focus is on promoting the service and letting people know it exists. They’re collecting feedback in the meantime.
As of now, Dan said Starlite Transit Center and Northtown Transit Center are common start points for riders.
