New Hope Volunteers Clean up Shingle Creek Watershed
Volunteers picked up trash and debris from along the banks of the creek as part of the Great Shingle Creek Watershed Clean-up Week. The Shingle Creek and West Mississippi Watersheds extend over 67 square miles in East-Central Hennepin County.
Volunteers and city staff helped clean up Meadow Lake Park as part of the Great Shingle Creek Watershed Cleanup Week.
“It’s important, I think, for both the residents to feel a part and take ownership in the amenities that they have in the city,” said Shawn Markham, New Hope City Forester. “Also, the city staff enjoys seeing residents come out too. It shows that they care.”
Besides picking up trash and debris, volunteers raked leaves and planted new trees and shrubs.
