New Hope Nautical Bowls To Host Domestic Violence Awareness Fundraising Event
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a local business is offering a chance for the community to help survivors.
Nautical Bowls in New Hope is holding a fundraiser Saturday afternoon to support domestic violence victims. People can stop by 4237 Winnetka Ave. N. between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. when a portion of the proceeds will go to Gathering Hope MN.
Gathering Hope is a nonprofit that helps women and children escape domestic violence situations and get back on their feet.
Organization’s president Rachel Kennedy said this month is a crucial time to educate the community. Its also a strong reminder to help your neighbors.
“We help with a lot of practical needs, so when a family moves in a new place they typically don’t have furniture, they don’t have food in the fridge, so we typically do that kind of stuff,” Kennedy said. “Diapers and clothes and things, especially for the kids.”
Gathering Hope also helps families with car repair expenses. Kennedy hopes to eventually offer housing assistance.
If you can’t make it to Nautical Bowls but still want to financially help with Gathering Hope’s mission, Kennedy asks you text “HOPE” to 763-200-7588.
