New Hope Microdistillery One Step Closer
A planned New Hope microdistillery is getting closer to reality. And when it opens, it’ll feature something the Northwest Metro doesn’t yet have.
In Monday night’s New Hope planning commission meeting, the owners of A. Davis Distillery got unanimous approval of their plan for opening a microdistillery and cocktail room. While the Northwest Metro is no stranger to the distillery scene – Skaalvenn‘s been in Brooklyn Park for years – it doesn’t yet have one with an attached cocktail room, although Skaalvenn now has plans to change that as well.
The New Hope microdistillery will be located in the former Mountain Mudd on 42nd Avenue. Owners say it’ll be open for cocktails Wednesday through the weekends, with mainly group events on Sundays. The city will have to change an ordinance which currently prohibits cocktail rooms from being open on Sundays.
The matter now moves to the City Council, which is expected to address it in the January 27 meeting.
