New Hope Lions Fundraiser is All Ears
The New Hope Lions Corn Feed took place Wednesday, raising money for local charities. It’s one of four fundraisers the New Hope Lions Club does throughout the year. All the money raised goes back into the community.
The corn feed benefits a litany of organizations, including local boy Scout troops, and hunger-relief organizations such as PRISM in Golden Valley, NEAR in Crystal and The Food Group (formerly Emergency Foodshelf Network) in New Hope. And that’s not all.
“We help pay for the patio at the new golf course. We bought the digital sign message board at the golf course as well so the money we raise throughout the year goes back into the community in one form or fashion,” said Louis Oswalt, president of the New Hope Lions.
Oswalt said they expected to go through more than 4,300 ears of fresh-picked sweet corn. And given the good weather Wednesday, they came close with hundreds of people attending.
