New Hope Focuses on Improving Meadow Lake
The New Hope City Council has adopted a Meadow Lake action plan that is designed to clean up water entering the lake. The 12-acre lake is rated as “impaired water” due to excessive phosphorus.
The action plan approved this week includes a lake level drawdown.
“The plan has five goals. The first of which is to improve water quality. Then we have further goals to improve terrestrial and aquatic species diversity. Also to improve and maintain native shorelines. To have some significant education go on in the watershed. And lastly to engage the community in water quality improvements,” said Megan Hedstrom, New Hope storm water specialist.
The plan was a collaboration between the Meadow Lake Watershed Association, Shingle Creek Watershed Management Commission and the city of New Hope.
