New Hope Actor Brings Sword Fighting Skills to ‘Treasure Island’
A local actor is helping bring a classic tale of adventure and hidden treasure to life at the Children’s Theatre Company.
Max Wojtanowicz, who lives in New Hope, will be performing in “Treasure Island,” his 25th show with the group.
He’s playing Doctor Livesay, a character who serves as a mentor to Jim Hawkins, the main character.
Treasure Island is an adventure story, filled with action, pirates and live music. Ultimately, Wojtanowicz said its a tale of growing up. He thinks his New Hope neighbors will enjoy it.
“I think all of us just want to escape a little bit right now. This is premium escapism, right?” Wojtanowicz said. “We’re getting on the Hispaniola, we’re going off in search of buried treasure. And I think kids young and old will enjoy this play.”
Children’s Theatre Company is located next to the Minneapolis Institute of Art.
The show opens on September 9 and runs through October 19. Children’s Theatre Company representatives say it’s best for those age eight and older. Tickets are available online for a variety of showtimes.
