New Crystal Business Specializes In Procedures For Darker Skin Tones
A new Crystal business is one of a handful of companies in Minnesota which specializes in skin care procedures for people of color. Glo Skin Space opened about a week ago and is located off the 2900 block of Winnetka Avenue North.
Owner Haneefah King has been helping people to put their best face forward for about three years. The Glo Skin Space company primarily focuses on people who have a lot of melanin in their skin.
“We all have melanin, but the amount of melanin is what’s separates us,” said King.
Skincare Expert Says People With Darker Skin Tone Have To Be Careful With Some Procedures
The esthetician said the amount of melanin in the skin really makes a difference, especially in chemical peels. She says if you’re not careful, you can cause scarring in darker complexions.
“Many times, African Americans cannot go as deep and as risky as they can Caucasian people can with their skin,” said the skincare expert.
On Wednesday, a customer came in for a deep cleansing facial.
“I’m noticing the older that I’m getting, I’m getting adult acne, and I’m getting sunburns on my face,” said the woman, who did not give her name.
King also uses several high-tech machines to exfoliate, get rid of fine wrinkles and restore a youthful appearance.
“It helps to remove dead skin from your face, and it leaves you with this beautiful glowing skin,” explained King.
Spa treatments from head to toe. Other services include foot soaks and detoxing, teeth whitening, and more.
And while the Crystal resident enjoys transforming people’s outer beauty, she says helping to change people from the inside is just as important.
“They glow on the inside, too. With confidence, they’re able to go out and go into these job interviews and nail it,” said King.
