New 200-Unit Apartment Complex Considered in Plymouth
A team of developers wants to build a 200-unit apartment complex in Plymouth at the corner of County Road 6 and County Road 101.
The four-story complex would replace much an existing 65,000-square-foot Plymouth Plaza commercial building on the 6.5-acre site.
Marco McLane Development and Mithun Cos. are proposing the redevelopment project.
Several businesses including Original Pancake House, as well as a dental practice operate out of the existing building.
The developers told the Plymouth Planning Commission on Wednesday that the Original Pancake House portion of the building would be retained, while the remainder would be razed.

Other tenants could potentially move to a new, smaller retail building planned for the site.
The new apartment complex would feature a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom units.
Portions of the parking for the apartment, as well as the stormwater treatment would be buried underground.
A small 1,400-square-foot standalone retail building could house a coffee shop or other drive-through restaurant.
The planning commission was largely supportive of the proposal, but some members said they were concerned about parking, as well as the density of the site.
“It seems like we’re really stressing the location to maximize potential uses — 200 units, etc.,” said Planning Commission Member Michael Boo. “That strikes me as probably unnecessarily dense.”
The developers have not formally submitted an application to start building the project
