National Night Out Brings Law Enforcement, Community Together
This Tuesday, area police and neighborhoods in the northwest suburbs will gather to unite law enforcement with their communities.
Some cities call it National Night Out, while others call it Night to Unite. Both happen on Tuesday, Aug. 6 this year. Some communities are hosting centralized events, while others have smaller neighborhood meetings.
National Night Out
Maple Grove’s kickoff event will be held at Central Park during the day. It runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will also be registered neighborhood gatherings throughout the community, according to Maple Grove’s website.
Osseo is holding its National Night Out event at its city complex and park from 5:50-8 p.m. The department also held a food drive in preparation for the night.
In Robbinsdale, Brooklyn Park and Golden Valley, neighbors will host block parties throughout the community.
Night to Unite
Brooklyn Center, Plymouth, Crystal and New Hope are facilitating block parties throughout the communities for Night to Unite.
Plymouth’s are scheduled to run city-wide from 6:30-8 p.m.
If you’re seeking a neighborhood block party, ask your neighbor. Most cities instructed hosts to invite neighbors a week before the event.
