‘Music in Plymouth’ Event Continues Despite Construction
A major test of Plymouth roadway construction took place on Wednesday, July 10.
An event called Music in Plymouth at the Hilde Performance Center attracts more than 15,000 people.
However, this year, the Hilde is more difficult to access due to construction on Plymouth Boulevard.
Some attendees who traveled to put down their blankets before the performance on Wednesday encountered detour signs.
To keep people moving to and from the event, the city is using shuttles.
“The city has done a tremendous job of planning because of the construction in the area,” said Mele Willis, with the Plymouth Civic League. “Plymouth Boulevard is closed down, but that shouldn’t deter anybody from coming and having a great time tonight.”
The Plymouth Boulevard project will add roundabouts and improve crossings for pedestrian safety.
Construction will last into fall.
