Moore, Lawrence-Anderson Elected to Brooklyn Center City Council
Brooklyn Center voters elected two candidates to city council on Tuesday.
The candidates collecting the most votes were Laurie Ann Moore and Kris Lawrence-Anderson.
Laurie Ann Moore received 27 percent of the vote and 4,149 total votes. Kris Lawrence-Anderson narrowly came out ahead of Gretchen Enger by only 12 votes. Both finished with 24 percent of the vote, with Lawrence-Anderson earning 3,718 votes, while Enger collected 3,706.
Andrew Johnson finished with 3,498 votes.
Lawrence-Anderson was an incumbent, while Laurie Ann Moore will serve her first term on the city council. Moore is a licensed social worker, who previously served on the Crystal City Council.
Brooklyn Center City Council Member Marquita Butler chose not to seek re-election.
The winning candidates will serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 6.
