Monroe Elementary Teachers Get School Supply Shopping Spree at Office Depot
Staff from Monroe Elementary in Brooklyn Park got a chance to shop for their classrooms at the Office Depot in Maple Grove on Monday. Office Depot presented a check for more than $51,000 in staff supplies.
“They are going to get all these amazing things for their classroom that they didn’t even know they could get,” said Amy Oliver, principal.
Monroe Elementary was selected based on need and each teacher received $500 to spend on supplies, technology, and even furniture for their classroom. Paraprofessionals, custodial staff and administrative staff received $250 as well.
“I honestly think it’s hard for teachers because they are used to giving, so they are super grateful that they are being given this gift,” said Scott Mattis, assistant principal. “Ultimately the things that the teachers bring back are going to have a profound impact on our students.”
Extra money and backpacks were also given to Evergreen Park Elementary.
