Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge Coming to Crystal
Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge is putting finishing touches on a new space in Crystal. The Fantasia Beauty Salon on Douglas Drive will house a new outpatient program.
At the new Crystal facility, individuals will be able to get an assessment to find out if they actually need treatment.
“A professional sits down with them and reviews their chemical history and makes a judgment,” says Saul Selby from Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge.
The building is under construction now. But the new space will be two levels and accommodate up to 60 clients at a time. They will provide day and evening programming and the ability to treat people for a month or up to two years.
“The drugs are getting much more powerful. They’re much more destructive,” explains Selby. “They’re much more addictive and people are starting them at a younger and younger age. You’ve got people that are 12, 13, and 14 years old that are very undeveloped in terms of their mental capacity. They’re abusing drugs. Their development gets impaired. The result of that is they have much more difficulty functioning.”
Minnesota Teen Challenge has approximately 400 clients in the Twin Cities metro area.
