Meet New Hope’s Newest City Council Member
A new member of the New Hope City Council is hoping to bring a fresh perspective to the city’s issues.
Kyle Coryell was sworn in to the council on Monday.
“The change is exciting,” she told CCX News. “We live in such a wonderful space and I want to be a part of it to reflect my different viewpoint. My millennial change, right? Things like that. And I want to reflect what makes this place so wonderful to live in.”
The Cooper High School graduate was appointed from a pool of 10 candidates to fill the seat previously occupied by John Elder.
Elder was elected to the mayor’s seat in November, succeeding Kathi Hemken.
“I am a person that’s passionate about happy communities leading to happy lives and a happy world that we live in,” Coryell said.
A pharmacist by trade, she’s excited to start hearing from residents.
“The part of it that’s exciting is listening to the community — communication open both ways — and then having those discussions influence what is next, if that’s parks, or if that’s infrastructure, or taxation, whatever that might be,” she said.
Coryell’s term runs through the next two years.
