Medical Examiner ID’s Teen Fatally Shot in Brooklyn Park
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the teen that was fatally shot in Brooklyn Park last Friday.
Jahcohn Anderson, 16, of Brooklyn Park, was shot around 9:46 p.m. on May 12 near the Quick African Market, at 5700 Brookdale Dr.
Police officers dispatched to the scene found that Anderson had been shot and transported him to North Memorial Health Hospital.
According to the medical examiner, Anderson, a Brooklyn Park resident, had been shot multiple times.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital approximately an hour after the shooting. The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.
Police investigating the shooting searched the area near the Quick African Market but did not initially find any suspects.
The following day, Brooklyn Park Police arrested the alleged gunman, an 18-year-old from Columbia Heights.
He is currently booked in the Hennepin County Jail while charges are pending.
Police are not looking for any additional suspects.
In 2021, 16-year-old Varney Kennedy Jr., of Golden Valley, was shot and killed in the same parking lot.
