Maranatha Christian Academy Staffer Charged with Sexual Misconduct
A worker at a Brooklyn Park school is facing disturbing allegations of sexual misconduct involving a teenage girl.
Jason Polzin, 50, has been charged with interfering with a minor’s privacy.
According to the criminal complaint, Polzin worked at Maranatha Christian Academy in Brooklyn Park.
A 13-year-old girl who played softball went into his classroom to change before a game or practice and noticed a phone in the room.
The phone’s camera was pointed at her and it was recording as she undressed.
She deleted the video and confronted Polzin, who said it was an accident.
Polzin had previously given her rides and invited her onto his boat, the complaint said.
“Victim stated that she felt confused and angry when she found his phone recording her,” the criminal complaint read.
The girl told school officials about the incident, which allegedly occurred on April 17, 2024.
Police were later dispatched to the school on a report of sexual misconduct.
Detectives later searched Polzin’s Prior Lake home and found “a number of files of criminal sexual abuse material,” according to the criminal complaint.
“Officers located 52 photos of victim, the majority of which were taken in the defendant’s school office,” the criminal complaint read. “Officers also located 165 photos that were victim’s face on a computer-generated female body. Included in those 165 photos were photos of victim’s face on a naked female body or a female body wearing revealing lingerie.”
Polzin was booked in the Hennepin County Jail but has been released on $10,000 bail.
Brooklyn Park police say they’re continuing to investigate and are looking for additional victims.
