Maple Grove Widow Inspired to Help Others
After a Maple Grove mother lost her husband, she is trying to help others who might be in similar circumstances through an event called Widows with Kiddos. She’s planning a picnic on Sunday in Minneapolis.
This Sunday is International Widows Day. Mary Lower, from Maple Grove, is trying to make a difference by reaching out to women who have experienced loss and are raising children on their own. She’s helping to organize an afternoon picnic and provide useful information.
“Some of us are younger widows and we have kids in elementary, high school, etc… and we need different resources than a grandmother that may have passed because her husband died of old age,” explained Lower. “So a number of women got together, through, initially the group Widow Might, and they’ve given us some sponsorship and some support, but we have found so many other resources in town.”
The picnic is this Sunday at the pavilion at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. It’s from 4 to 7 p.m. You can find out more information on our website, CCX MEDIA.org.
