Maple Grove Transit Offers Bus Route to State Fair
There’s good news for west metro fairgoers—Maple Grove Transit is offering a bus route to the Great Minnesota Get Together.
The Minnesota State Fair opens on Thursday, Aug. 21 and runs through Labor Day.
Bus service from the Maple Grove Transit Station to the fair will be offered on weekends from 8 a.m. to midnight.
There’s also service on Labor Day, but buses return at 11 p.m.
Parking at the Maple Grove Transit Station, located at 12350 Main St., is free for riders. However, overnight parking from 2-4 a.m. is prohibited.
Maple Grove Transit Administrator Mike Opatz says the offering if very popular, and he expects to see full buses.
“If we can offer a bus service, it’s just a great service that really makes people’s lives a lot easier, just to provide the commuting service to and from the state fair,” he said.
There’s four ways to purchase the round-trip fare:
- Tickets are available in-person for $6 in cash—but no change will be available.
- A ticket vending machine at the Maple Grove Transit Station will offer a $6 fare for credit card users.
- Metro Transit app users can purchase single or group fares for $5.
- Users of Apple Pay or Google Pay can also purchase a $5 fare.
Disabled veterans will not be charged for a ride.
