Maple Grove Theater Group Creates Workshops for Kids
Rhonda Roe with Bunce Backyard Productions has created workshops with the Osseo Schools Community Ed as a way to teach theater to elementary students. Roe named the workshops BEAT, which stands for Bunce Educational Adventure Theater.
“I feel like theater as an experience, especially musical theater. It can be a great tool to help kids figure out who they are, what they like, and what are they capable of,” said Roe.
The workshop targets second through fifth graders and it’s often their very first introduction to theater.
The camps are four days a week for two hours after school. During the camp, students learn different aspects of about theater. Finally, students perform the musical onstage. Students use a full set, costumes, props and more.
The next BEAT offered through the Osseo Schools Community Ed will be this summer. The camp will target middle school students and the final performance will be “Aladdin Kids.” You can sign up through the Osseo Area School Community Ed Department or find more information at Bunce Backyard Productions.
