Maple Grove Senior High Hosts Benefit Concert for Homeless Teens
Students from Maple Grove Senior High are producing a benefit variety show on Friday, January 10. The concert will benefit Avenues for Youth. The nonprofit helps homeless youth ages 16-24.
“Since we are choosing Avenues for Youth as our charity, it’s something that works in Minneapolis and works with kids our ages,” said Mia Flandrick, a junior from MGSH. “That’s something everyone in this show has felt–the importance of giving back to someone our own age.”
The variety show is completely student led and features everything from singing, dancing and music to poetry and magical acts. A total of 60 students worked on the production.
“A really nice thing about the production is it’s something where kids get a chance to show off their abilities to their friends and family,” said Sawyer Miedema, a junior from MGSH.
