Maple Grove Kicks Off National Night Out At Central Park
For many cities, Tuesday, Aug. 6 is a day to celebrate relationships between police and the community on National Night Out.
Maple Grove is one of those cities, hosting a a mid-day kickoff event on Tuesday in Central Park.
Kids and their families had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of emergency vehicles from law enforcement agencies.
Police officers were also behind the grill, cooking up brats and hot dogs.
For the first time in 20 years, the event wasn’t hosted at the Maple Grove Community Center.
That’s due to a large construction project that’s underway at the community center.
Officials were still looking forward to a big turnout at the new site.
“I can’t thank residents enough,” said Todd Strege, Maple Grove Police Department Community Outreach Specialist. “We’ve always had good turnout for this event, you know, even with everything the world’s gone through in the last few years.”
Maple Grove police expect to visit smaller block parties throughout the evening.
