Maple Grove Gym Takes On 2,000 Burpees for Veterans
F45 Training in Maple Grove is taking supporting the troops to another level with its “2,000 Burpees Challenge.”
In a special fundraising effort in honor of Veteran’s Day, the gym decided to fundraise for those who served.
The rules were simple: $1 donated equaled one burpee. Coaches at the gym were up for the challenge.
“All those post-its up on the wall, to start knocking those burpees one at a time. There ain’t nothin’ to it but to do it, so once we get started, every burpee is closer to the goal. So I’m pumped, ready to go,” said Josh Vogel, a military VIP intern at F45.
Half the money raised will benefit people like Vogel, a Navy sailor who plans to retire from the service soon. He is taking part in the Skillbridge program, which helps service members transition from the military to civilian life.
The other half will support nonprofits that support service members.
Vogel was able to get certified as a personal trainer free of charge while working for the gym on a military salary.
Jason Noeldner, the owner of F45, said this benefits the gym and the people it employs.
“He understands sacrifice, for one, and working super hard and helping people,” Noeldner said about Vogel. “That is what we are all about here, too.”
Army National Guard and Navy recruiters were also present. Vogel encouraged anyone interested in the service to get involved.
