Maple Grove Doctor Authors Book on Postpartum Pregnancy
It’s easy to focus on newborns after birth, but what about the mother’s recovery?
Dr. Erin Stevens, an OB/GYN physician at Clinic Sofia in Maple Grove and Edina, said maternal mortality rates are going up in the U.S. Those concerns led to her to pen a book titled “Unexpected: A Postpartum Survival Guide.”
Stevens said the topic of reproductive health and postpartum struggles aren’t being talked about enough.
“The book goes by topic by topic. Cramping, bleeding, birth control, breast feeding, all sorts of topics one by one. What’s normal, what’s not normal, what should we do to prepare for all those new things coming up in your life,” Stevens explained.
Stevens wants readers to feel empowered with knowledge and the tool to help them navigate through what can be a difficult time.
“Unexpected: A Postpartum Survival Guide” is available from Itasca Books as well as from Amazon, Barnes and Noble and some independent bookstores.
