Maple Grove Charter School Rolls Out Red Carpet for Students
A Maple Grove charter school kicked off its first day in Hollywood style.
Minnesota Excellence in Learning Academy (MELA) rolled out a red carpet for its students.
Some showed off their best dance moves, others hugged and gave teachers a high-five.
Kids also got a first day of school picture taken before heading to class.
School officials say the festivities fit well with its “reach for the stars” theme.
“That will be a theme that goes throughout the school year, really encouraging our scholars to reach for their highest potential and set some goals for themselves, what are their hopes and dreams for school year, what is it that they want to accomplish and how we as educators can support that and help them reach for the stars,” explained Danielle Fields, Executive Director of MELA.
Officials at the Pre-K through 6th grade school say enrollment is full this year with 230 students.
