Maple Grove Breaks Ground on Veterans Memorial
Advocates broke ground on Maple Grove Veterans Memorial Park in Central Park. Organizers have been raising money and working toward this memorial since 2013.
“There will be panels honoring all the wars, from the Civil War to Afghanistan and Iraq” said Joel Skagerberg, from Maple Grove’s Beyond the Yellow Ribbon. “We’ll have a fallen heroes panel and obviously a major donors panel. There will be a walkway with pavers. Anybody can buy a paver for the park and remember a veteran.”
The project is scheduled to be completed in mid-July.
When finished there will be flag poles flying the U.S. flag, POW flag and city of Maple Grove flag.
