Maple Grove Approves Upsher-Smith Expansion
A major expansion planned by pharmaceutical maker Upsher-Smith in Maple Grove will eventually impact the company’s operations in Plymouth.
Long-term plans for the drug manufacturer Upsher Smith include moving operations from Denver and Plymouth into a new Maple Grove building. The city council approved plans for the expansion this week.
Upsher-Smith will build a nearly 300-thousand square foot addition to its Maple Grove campus. The four-story addition will be used primarily for drug manufacturing.
In 2002, Upsher-Smith received city approval for a master plan that allowed room for expansion to the west and east. The first building was constructed by 2003. In 2012, the company received approval for westward expansion. This expansion would be the eastern portion.
