Lunds & Byerlys Closes Store Pharmacies
All Twin Cities locations of Lunds & Byerlys will close their store pharmacies starting July 17. This includes pharmacies located in Plymouth, Maple Grove, and Golden Valley stores.
The last day the pharmacies will be open for business will be Tuesday, July 16. A statement on the store’s website says the pharmacies have been losing money and it’s no longer feasible to operate them.
“Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult for retail pharmacies given a number of economic challenges within the industry.” — Lunds & Byerlys statement
Prescriptions not picked up will be routed to the nearest Walgreens.
And what happens to the space inside the store?
A Lunds & Byerly’s spokesperson says that depends upon the store. Maple Grove will receive an expanded dairy section. Plymouth will get expanded health and beauty care offerings. The company is still finalizing plans for the pharmacy space inside the Golden Valley store.
