Local Women Win Bush Foundation Fellowship Grants
Two local women received Bush Foundation Fellowship Grants of up to $100,000 to enhance their leadership skills. They are two of 24 people from the Midwest who are identified as community leaders with the potential to make a difference.
Rose McGee
Rose McGee leads an effort to bake Sweet Potato Comfort Pies. She coordinates groups to bake the pies and then delivers them to areas of the country that have experienced racial or religious violence. We have profiled Rose McGee and her efforts to bake pies in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday.
Alex West Steinman
Alex West Steinman is from Plymouth and received a grant for her work to increase economic access and opportunities for women. Steinman created a brand called Strong Like Mama a few years ago to emphasize the dedication and hard work of mothers. We profiled Steinman’s work with that brand in a story in 2017.
