Local COVID-19 Testing Sites See Surge
Hennepin County is seeing another big jump in positive COVID-19 cases this month. According to the Minnesota Department of Health, the Northwest suburbs were barely seeing any cases at the start of the summer. Now, we’re back in the double-digits in all nine cities. With a rise in cases, we’re also seeing a surge in testing.
So plan ahead if you need to get a COVID-19 test.
Local clinics and testing locations are reporting an increase in patients in line for testing, but have no plans to expand testing just yet. You may notice additional parking spots designated for COVID-19 testing or additional signage to indicate longer wait times though.
North Memorial Health Hospital says while they’ve seen an increase due to the current delta surge, they’re well-equipped with supplies and staff to handle the demand. They also shared this information:
“With the increase in disease observed during the current delta surge, we have seen more customers with illness; we have also seen more customers interested in obtaining tests for mild symptoms or known exposures.”
North Memorial also mentioned that patients are experiencing symptoms that mimic a common cold, so testing is becoming even more important now to stop the spread.
