Latest Stages Theatre Production Puts Audience in the Mix with Performers
Stages Theatre in Hopkins is running its final show of the season and this show is made specifically for young children.
“They can come to a show where they don’t have to sit and watch it for an hour– they can interact with it,” said Matt Ouren, one of the actors in the production of “Galactic Wonders: A Space Adventure.”
“They’re encouraged to get up, move around, make noises and do the funny things that they want to do during a regular show but it’s more readily accepted here,” said Ouren.
The show is a fully interactive performance for kids 5 and younger.
The show allows the actors and the kids in the audience to work together to explore outer space. It’s performed in the smaller Jaycees Studio theater as the young viewers are asked to help the actors by giving creative ideas for their mission. The improvisation with kids makes each show uniquely fun, especially for the actors.
“Both my brothers are autistic and so they actually get a ton out of the show,” said Alanna Nyberg, one of the actors who is also from Robbinsdale. “It’s so fun to see how different kids interact in different ways and I think it’s really special.”
The show runs through Aug. 20. Tickets are available on the Stages Theatre website.
