KidPack Program at Calvary Church Boosted by Rotary Clubs
KidPack is a nonprofit that packs food for local students-in-need to take home on weekends. Elementary students in the Robbinsdale School District are getting some much-needed nutrition thanks to some generous volunteers. KidPack typically has 60 monthly volunteers that pack meals every other week.
On Wednesday, local Rotary members bagged meals for both Neill Elementary in Crystal and the School of Engineering and Arts in Golden Valley. An $8,000 grant from the Rotary clubs of Crystal-New Hope-Robbinsdale, and Golden Valley will pay for an additional nutritious food item in each bag.
“There is a serious shortage, particularly on weekends, for a number of students for the two elementary schools,” said Jim Benshoof with Crystal-New Hope-Robbinsdale Rotary Club. “Without these packs of food, they would likely be short of food for the weekend.”
KidPack serves about 230 students per week at the two schools. If you’d like to help, you can donate for area children by calling Calvary Lutheran at 763-231-2988.
