Inside Maple Grove Flower Shop on Busiest Sales Day
Valentine’s Day is a busy time for flower shops. Donato’s Floral in Maple Grove is bustling with hundreds of pickup and delivery orders.
Co-owner Anna Donato-Ghani said this is their biggest sales day of the year. That’s closely followed by Mother’s Day– where dance recitals and gifts for mom keep florists at work.
Donato’s has been in the community for more than 35 years. Donato-Ghani said she’s grateful for her local customer base as online flower services from out-of-state rise in popularity.
The team at Donato’s makes it fun. Everyone was dressed on-theme on Wednesday as they prepared orders and answered phone calls. Donato-Ghani said they’ve perfected the system. That perfection is largely thanks to a legacy left behind.
“You know, our founder was my brother Victor; Victor Donato. He was incredible,” Donato-Ghani said. “His hands and his art and his vision were amazing. And we get to keep that vision going at Donato’s.”
Donato-Ghani said at least 100 people come into the store on Valentine’s Day to grab last-minute flowers.
While many people are picking up roses, she said their most popular arrangement isn’t actually that: it’s their farmhouse box. That’s a combination of orchids, roses and seasonal flowers.
