Illume to move its corporate headquarters to Maple Grove
Maple Grove is about to get a new corporate headquarters. This spring, home fragrance and personal care manufacturer, Illume will break ground on a 288,000-square-foot facility in the city.
Known for its scented candles and personal care products that range from soaps to perfumes, Illume aims to create beautiful experiences that won’t break the bank.
“If you sometimes cannot afford to take a vacation, you can pick up a beautiful candle that smells like you’re on vacation,” said Kelly Goski, vice president of talent for Illume. “These are beautiful indulgences.”
They’re indulgences made in Minnesota, from the design process and fragrance selection to the manufacturing, sales, and distribution.
“We are in six buildings, currently, in the south metro, Bloomington, specifically. We are consolidating in Maple Grove all under one roof,” said Goski.
Illume Picks Maple Grove
The move to Maple Grove means new jobs and a boost for the local economy, says Carie Wille, Maple Grove Economic Development Manager.
“We’re really excited that they’re planning to bring their existing 130 jobs and move them from Bloomington to Maple Grove. And on top of that, they’re also planning to add at least 85 additional jobs by 2020,” said Wille.
The city is a good fit for Illume too with its nearby access to I-694 and I-494, as well as its large retail presence.
“The Arbor Lakes area, in particular, is around all of the amenities that our employees use on a regular basis,” said Goski. “It’s also home to many of our retail partners.”
Illume products are sold at big retailers such as Nordstrom and Target, but also online and at specialty gift shops.
The company plans to invest more than $10 million in the city when it builds its corporate headquarters just east of the Fountains at Arbor Lakes.
With multiple national brands under the Illume name, including Good Chemistry and Magnolia Home, Illume is growing and hiring. It’s move into Maple Grove will help accommodate both things.
“When we move, we want to make our presence known because attracting and retaining great talent is our number one priority,” said Goski.
The new Maple Grove headquarters is expected to be complete in the summer of 2019.
